The Junior Final of the December 2005 DBA Event was fought between Robert Dowling and Alex Keane.
Like Senior Finalist Andrew Wilkinson, Alex Keane was using Medieval French (IV/64c, on the left). Robert Dowling decided to use Free Company or Armagnac (IV/74, on the right). As can bee seen in this first photo, Alex quickly dismounted many of his knights.
The battle developed into a fight over a central ridge, which Alex generally had the better of, despite leaving one of his Blade elements to defend the BUA in the corner. However Robert allowed Alex to match his frontage because he deployed his longbow two elements deep...
...which allowed him to use the rear longbow elements to fill some of the gaps which appeared in his army. However, what was in effect a brutal frontal slog for both sides was eventually won by Alex.
