The June 2005 DBA Event

The second DBA Event of 2005 was held on June 18th, with a theme of "Mesopotamia - the end of the Neo-Assyrian Empire" (C7th BC)".

Lydians on left about to charge Assyrians on right.

The above picture shows the Lydian army (list I/50, on the left) of finalist Richard Pulley about to charge the Neo-Assyrian Later Sargonid army (list I/51) of eventual winner Lindon Paxton.

The initial clash of the mounted troops.

This picture shows the Lydian Knights and Light Horse leading the attack against the Assyrian Heavy Chariots and Cavalry. Iniatially it looked as if the Lydians would be triumpant: the Assyrian General (seen in the chariot with the umbrella) was isolated and at one point contacted on three sides simultaneoustly by the Lydian mounted elements. However the General survived and soon after delivered the final blow.

Lindon was presented with the Title Holder's trophy by Adrian Webb, the winner of the March 2005 DBA Event.
